Living by Grace

The starting point in this ministry is the life-changing book, Our Oneness With Christ.  This is a study in living by grace through faith. Not simply another book on the theme of "union with Christ" - it probes into new, fresh areas of thought and understanding of this grand theme. The basic sin problem is presented as one of a "know-it-all attitude." Coming to an understanding of our basic sin problem is one of the vital keys to a victorious Christian life!

"Living By Grace" draws upon the five imperatives (or 5 commands) listed in Romans 6:11-13.

Believe      Romans 6:11  -  Reckon (believe) yourselves to be dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Choose      Romans 6:12  -  Do not let sin reign in your mortal body that you should obey it in its lust.

Choose      Romans 6:13a  -  Do not present your members (body) as instruments of  unrighteousness to sin.

Choose & Believe      Romans 6:13b  -  Present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead.

Choose      Romans 6:13c  -  (Present) your members (body) as instruments of righteousness to God.

… In the shadow of His hand He has hidden Me, And made Me a polished shaft; In His quiver He has hidden Me.”  Isaiah 49:2

Isaiah 49:2 is a prophetic statement of Jesus. He is saying that the Father has hidden Him. In 49:4 He continues:

… Then I said, 'I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and in vain …’

The Father responds to these surprising statements of the Son in Isaiah 49:6. He says:

… It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant To raise up the tribes of Jacob, And to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles, That You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth.’

Evidently, Jesus’ prophetic statement that He had labored in vain was the result of His having so few disciples at the end of His earthly ministry.

Jesus could refer to himself as a hidden arrow because following the crucifixion and resurrection the Father removed the polished arrow from His quiver. He then placed it in His bow and aimed it at all the people of the world and released it.

Today many believers who are laboring for God with meager fruitfulness are God’s hidden arrows.

It is likely that many of God’s arrows are hidden because they are trying to serve God in their own wisdom and strength.

God’s plan has always been that His servants do ministry in His wisdom and power. When one of God’s servants moves from serving God in his own wisdom and strength to serving God through God’s wisdom and strength, God removes that arrow from His quiver and thrusts it into a broadened area of fruitfulness.

The Father removed the arrow of His Son following His crucifixion and resurrection and broaden His area of ministry. He often does the same in the lives of His present-day hidden arrows when they enter the life of crucifixion and resurrection.

An abridged version of Our Oneness With Christ is now available. Only 54 pages, yet it still clearly presents the full, life-changing message of living by grace.

Living the New Covenant

God spoke through Moses to tell the Israelites He would enter into a covenant with them. This was the First Covenant. At the first Lord's Supper, Jesus said  the cup was His Blood of the New Covenant. In Living the New Covenant, David Kuykendall examines the writings of Paul and the author of Hebrews to understand what these two covenants represent and how they affect the lives of Christians.
