WHEN WE DON'T FEEL GOD

Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”  John 20:29

After His resurrection, Jesus met with His disciples when Thomas was not there. When Thomas returned to the group they told him about seeing the Lord. Thomas responded by saying, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”

Eight days later Jesus met again with His disciples and Thomas was with them. When he saw Jesus, He believed. Then Jesus responded with the words of John 20:29.

We have believed without seeing Jesus. There are times when we feel so close to Him that we “feel” Him. We love those times.

There are also times when we do not feel Jesus. What are we to do in those times? It does not seem inappropriate to say, “Blessed are those who do not feel Jesus and yet believe.”

Ephesians 2:6 says, that God “raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” This verse alone tells us what we are to do even if we cannot feel Jesus. We are to believe that we are seated with Him in heavenly places.

Right now you may not feel Jesus even as you pray. However, you can believe that you are seated with Him in heavenly places. Believe and be blessed in many ways.

You know that you are in the presence of your High Priest who loves you and prays to the Father for you. You know you are in the presence of the one who is in control of all that is taking place on earth. This makes it easier to thank God in all things. You know you are in the place where your faith will grow.

You might even begin to “feel” the presence of Jesus.
