“FIRE IN OUR BONES”

My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness And Your salvation all the day, For I do not know their limits.  Psalm 71:13

All day long the psalmist would speak of the righteousness and salvation of God. He would do this even though, according to his words, “I do not know their limits,” he knew there was more to know.

Even a limited knowledge of God’s righteousness and salvation put a fire in the bones of the psalmist that left him talking unceasingly about them. Centuries later we have far more revelations about God’s salvation and righteousness and we can have “fire in our bones” to speak about them.

We only need to know some things and to do some things. We need to know that the Holy Spirit is in us. We need to know how to be filled with the Spirit. Then we need to do what is necessary to be filled with the Spirit.

The Holy Spirit entered our lives when we received Jesus as Lord and Savior. If we know we are saved, we know that He is in us. We need to know how He can be in us without our being fill with Him. Galatians 5:17 explains this. It reads, “For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another …

Galatians 5:24 says, “And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” Your flesh was crucified when you gave you received Jesus as Lord and Savior.

We are filled with the Spirit when we experience the crucifixion of our flesh and remove the opposition to the Holy Spirit’s control of our lives. We do that when we obey the five commands listed below this devotional.
