SOMETHING GOOD IS GOING TO HAPPEN

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.  2 Corinthians 12:9

God had sent Paul a “thorn in the flesh” and refused to remove it even though Paul had asked for the removal 3 times. Obviously the thorn placed limitations on Paul’s ministry. In time, God told Paul that He would give grace because of the thorn. Paul believed what God told him and responded with praise for the thorn and for the grace that would result from it.

Romans 8:26 reads, “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” Weakness here is a translation of the same Greek work translated “weakness” twice in the 2 Corinthians 12 passage.

The word “helps” in Romans 8:26 is a translation of the same word Martha used when she told Jesus to tell Mary to participate with her in the kitchen. The context of Romans 8:26 begins in Romans 8:17 which says, “… and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.” Paul was saying in 8:26 that the Holy Spirit participates in our weaknesses—our sufferings—through prayer.

Two verses later, Scripture says that God works everything together for good to those who love him. This includes our weaknesses—sufferings. If we will trust God for His grace to lift us above our weaknesses, something good is going to happen.
