god is looking for a body

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.  1 Corinthians 6:19-20

The guest speaker at the weekly Pastors’ Conference said repeatedly, “God is looking for a body.” One young Pastor at the meeting left very confused about the man’s message.

In later years, this confused Pastor understood what the man was talking about and is now saying to others, “God is looking for a body.” God uses our bodies to bring glory to Himself.

In Romans 6:13b, Paul indicates one way God uses the bodies of believers to express His love to others. He writes, “present … your members as instruments of righteousness to God.” He is referring to our bodies.

As God expresses Himself through us, He leads us to do works of righteousness. He leads us to do acts of love to others. He leads us to speak words of comfort and guidance to others.

All servants of God have had multiple experiences when they have related a certain event to other believers with the words, “God led me to …” There follows a description of the believer doing or saying something that God used for His glory.

Paul has reference to the bodies of believers when he writes in Galatians 3:1, “O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified.”

Some Christians believe that their bodies of flesh are sinful. If they were, God would not use them to glorify Himself. Live out the commands for living by grace and God will glorify Himself through your body. “God is looking for a body.”
