IN TRANSITION

I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you.  Philippians 3:4-5

Even though Paul wrote these words  late in his Christian journey, he knew that God had more for him than he was experiencing at the time. Even though he had been a Christian for many years and had continued to grow, he still considered himself in the state of transition.

Later, in 2 Timothy 4:6-7 when Paul knew death was imminent, he would write:

For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  2 Timothy 4:6-7

With the words, “I have finished the race,” Paul indicated that he was no longer in the state of transition. He had matured as a Christian all he would.

Until the very last, we believers should consider ourselve in a state of transition never ceasing to give up our purpose of spiritually maturing  in the Lord. We do not want to be like the person who enters a race and then steps off the track before the race is over.

It is possible that some believers have never grown spiritually and have never considered themselves in the state of transition. It is not too late for them to enter the race. Those who have matured over a period of years should not give up their attitude of always being in a state of transition.

Many have realized that their experiences of successful transition have become more rapid since beginning to experience their oneness with Christ.
