 ENLIGHTENED ON OUR DARK DAYS

For You will light my lamp; The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. Psalm 18:28

We all have said, “This is a dark day in my life.” We have been with others who were saying these words. We cannot count the circumstances that lead to the dark days.

Sadly, many Christian workers and leaders have dark days because of criticism and opposition from professing believers they are trying to help. Darkness of this type can be prevalent in non-church circumstances.

Disappointment, depression, circumstances of grief, physical problems, failure and bad relationships with others are causes of our dark days.

David’s darkness was in facing enemies who wanted to kill him. God enlightened that darkness by answering his prayer for God to intervene. Many times God enlightens our darkness when, in faith, we go to Him in prayer asking for deliverance from some circumstance.

However, that does not always happen, because God is using the darkness to make us more than conquerors (Romans 8:36-37) by increasing our faith in Him. He often uses those dark days to break our pride and bring us to the life of grace.

In fact, most people discover and experience their oneness with Christ because of the dark days. But when that darkness leads to grace, we are enlightened by the Lord in facing all of the dark times.

We can actually begin to thank the Lord for all things (1 Thessalonians 5:18). When we have the faith to do that light is on the way.
