BEGIN A BLESSING CYCLE

Now the Lord had said to Abram: "… I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you … And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”  Genesis 12:1-3

This blessing cycle is about God sending the Messiah through the line of Abraham. Could we not, though, believe that in a different setting, God could begin a blessing cycle through us?

According to the full context, Abraham is to leave his country and go to another one and then the blessings will come.

God blesses us first in bringing us to salvation. However, the continuing blessing cycle will come as we live by grace and do the things God wants us to do. We bless others. God and others bless us.

Consider the blessing cycle in light of Luke 6:38 where Jesus says, “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.

A starting place for the blessing cycle would be Romans 6:11-13. Obey these commands and you will live by grace. The fifth command is for us to make our bodies available to God. Then God will begin blessing cycles through us by leading and empowering us to do works of righteousness.

Why not read and obey Romans 6:11-13 and you will start a blessing cycle that will bring blessings to you, the Lord and many others?
