THE MINISTRY OF PRESENCE

“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2

Job called his friends “miserable comforters” (Job 16:2). In Chapter 19:1-2, Job states, “How long will you torment me and break me in pieces with words?

Like Job’s friends, all of us at times have said things to others when we thought we were representing the “voice” of God. Our words can be hurtful and without compassion.

If we have repented of our sins and invited Jesus to become the Lord of our lives, the Bible teaches that we are one with Jesus in his crucifixion, burial and resurrection (Romans 6:1-10). The Christ Who is in us wants to fill us with Himself. We will be filled when we follow the 5 commands in Romans 6:11-13.

When we follow those commands and continue in a state of total dependence on Jesus, we will be able to do the works that He did (John 14:12) and show compassion, listen, speak the words of the Father, love others. We will also be able to “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
