BEARING FRUIT FOR GOD

Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.  John 12:24

Just before His crucifixion, some Greeks asked for the privilege of seeing Jesus. He responded with the words of John 12:24. He was speaking of His crucifixion. However, He surely knew that the time would come when these words would apply to those who entered His Kingdom.

In Romans 7:4, Paul teaches that fruit bearing comes through death. He wrote:

Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God.

Because of a misunderstanding of the Christian life, many of God’s children have such an intimate relationship to law that Paul calls this relationship a marriage. Believers must die to that marriage that they may be married to Christ. The thought of a marriage to Jesus is expressed by Jesus with the words, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15: 5).

When we experience our spiritual crucifixion, we will abide in Christ and He will abide in us. Jesus is already in every child of God, but this abiding is being filled with the Spirit of Christ which comes when we experience our spiritual death.

We all want judgment day to be a good day for us. Fruit bearing is a major part of the preparation for it to be a good day for us. Experiencing our oneness with Christ is a must in preparation for judgment day.
