ENLARGED GRACE EQUALS ENLARGED MINISTRY

… but having hope, that as your faith is increased, we shall be greatly enlarged by you in our sphere  2 Corinthians 10:15

Paul introduced the concept of the term “sphere” in 2 Corinthians 10:13. With the word “sphere” Paul refers to his God-given area of service in the Kingdom. Here he writes:

We, however, will not boast beyond measure, but within the limits of the sphere which God appointed us—a sphere which especially includes you.

Paul knew God had a plan for his life of service to others. He knew that it was God’s will for him to have a ministry with the Corinthians.

Then in 2 Corinthians 10:15 Paul writes:

… but having hope, that as your faith is increased, we shall be greatly enlarged by you in our sphere.

Paul then continues:

…to preach the gospel in the regions beyond you …

It was Paul’s belief that the Corinthians increased faith would result in a larger ministry for him.

Apply these truths to a modern-day church as it increases in faith. It is a church growing in generous giving to the cause of Christ. It is a church with a growing passion to expand its own ministry. The result is an expanding ministry.

An added feature of this increase in ministry is reflected in an expanded ministry of its pastor, its staff, other church leaders, and many members of the church.

Living by continual faith is living by continual grace. A pastor longing for an expanding ministry in and through his church should hasten to teach his people how to live by grace.

Such a pastor will familiarize himself with Paul’s teaching on living by grace in Romans 6:1-16 and faithfully share these verses with his church.
