you can come back

Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for ministry.   2 Timothy 4:11

Mark was raised by a godly mother (Acts 13:12). He became so close to Peter that Peter referred to him as his son (1 Peter 5:13). Mark wrote the Gospel of Mark. It is believed that his greatest resource of information about Jesus was the Apostle Peter. Mark also was a cousin of Barnabas.

He went with Paul and Barnabas on their first missionary journey. However, in the early days of the journey, Mark deserted them and returned to Jerusalem.

When Paul and Barnabas began making plans for a second missionary journey to visit the churches they had started, Barnabas wanted to take Mark with them again. Paul disagreed so Barnabas took Mark with him on a missionary journey to Cyprus while Paul went in the other direction.

In time, Paul began to have great respect for Mark. Knowing Paul and his ways, we can be confident that Paul, Barnabas or someone taught him how to live by grace. This turned Mark’s life around. He went on to become one of the most important men in the New Testament.

You may know someone who at one time served God with a great passion but no longer does so because he failed God and himself. Teach him the life of grace and encourage him to believe that God still has a place for him in the Kingdom’s work.
