REWARDED IN THIS LIFE

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.  Hebrews 11:6

Many references to rewards in the New Testament concern rewards in eternity. Because of its context, rewarding mentioned in this verse is for this life as well as for eternity.

A literal translation of the word seek is “seeking out.” God will reward the believer who is continually seeking Him out.  We are seeking out God in our pursuit to know Him better. We get to know Him better primarily through our experiences of faith and through reading the Scripture.

It is by faith that we begin our pursuit to know God better. “We “believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

What are the rewards for the one who diligently continues to seek God? Since Hebrews chapter 11 is known as the “faith chapter” of the Bible, we can assume that one reward is a greater faith.

In addition, we are rewarded with what faith can do for us. The entire faith chapter reveals that we can be rewarded by being free from fear, receiving miracles in our bodies, winning in other areas through miraculous victories, receiving righteousness, obtaining promises, and through our weaknesses becoming strong.

In our pursuit to know God better, we will be at our best when we continue to receive the filling of the Holy Spirit. He will interpret our experiences so that we will see God’s involvement and purpose in them. He will reveal faith-building truths as we continually read our Bibles.
