That Continuing Light

We grow as Christians through our expanding understanding of God, of Jesus, and of all that is involved in the salvation God has given us.

Someone has said that in the Kingdom there is an ocean of light and most of us are living on thimbles full. But it is not necessary that we be such spiritual paupers. Consider the following statement made by Jesus.

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you (John 16:1-15).

What a glorious thought. It is the intention of God to continually give us new light. Those continual gifts are the works of the Holy Spirit. And when we are filled with the Spirit, He will give new light.

When we understand that when we were saved we were crucified, buried, and resurrected and when we live out the five commands of Romans 6:11-13, we are filled with the Holy Spirit.

We don’t have to beg for the filling. We receive the filling. With the filling, along with many other things, comes the light that changes lives.
