Living by Grace

Dedicated to providing guidance in daily living through the power of God's grace as experienced in our union with Christ.

Stop Worrying!

Are you a worrier? Most of us are. Yet, we feel that it is impossible to stop worrying.

In His sermon on the mount, Jesus commanded His listeners not to worry about food, drink, and clothing-or even about tomorrow.

The Apostle Paul commanded his Philippian readers not to be anxious about anything.

Most admit that worry dishonors the Lord. Most admit that it damages one’s Christian influence. Most of us know that worry is not good for our own mental, spiritual, and physical health.

But there is hope for change.

Consider this: Worry is the result of thinking certain things should happen while circumstances indicate that they will not happen.

So, if we could be free from our point of view about what should happen, then we would have nothing to worry about. But how can we have such freedom?

First, we must admit that our sin problem is that we think we are wise. Our sin problem is the source of our thinking that we know what should happen.

Second, we must confess that we are in Christ and, as a result, we have already been crucified, buried, and resurrected.

Third, we must experience our crucifixion, burial, and resurrection by obeying the five commands Romans 6:11-13.
