Living by Grace

Dedicated to providing guidance in daily living through the power of God's grace as experienced in our union with Christ.

Serving God and Others with Our Gift

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.  1 Peter 4:10

Someone said, “In at least one thing, every Christian is a 10.” He was basing his statement on verses such as 1 Peter 4:10 and Romans 12:6. All believers have at least one spiritual gift for service to God and others. Some believers seem to have more than one.

The person who believes he has nothing to offer does not realize that he has been divinely gifted for service to God and others. As a result, many will miss out on something special that God has for them.

Some who feel incapable of serving in the Kingdom say, “If I have a gift, I do not know what it is.”

They can discover their gift through living by grace. When we live by grace, we give our bodies to God for Him to use as He sees fit. The Lord will lead us into a ministry of His choosing. This does not mean that overnight our gift will be revealed to us. We might interpret the leadership of the Lord to be several things—possibly each different in nature.

As we follow what we believe to be the leadership of the Lord, we will find ourselves fruitful and comfortable in one or more areas.

When God shows us the area or areas where we are comfortable and effective, we can believe we have found our life’s work in the Kingdom. After we have found our gift or gifts, we will continue to exercise them by continuing in the life of grace.

The Lord will be glorified and many will be blessed.
