Living by Grace

Dedicated to providing guidance in daily living through the power of God's grace as experienced in our union with Christ.

Roll Back the Stone

Matthew 28:2  And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it.

Because of the sudden appearances Jesus made in presenting himself to his disciples, we can be certain that it was not necessary to roll back the stone to permit Jesus to leave the tomb. The stone was rolled away to reveal that the crucified Christ was alive.

Present day believers can “roll back the stone” for the non-believing world throughout the year—not just during the Easter season.

We can “roll back the stone” with out lives. We do so by first understanding that when we received Jesus into our lives, the Holy Spirit baptized us into Jesus—He baptized us into the crucifixion, burial, and resurrection of Jesus (See Rom. 6:3-5).

When we understand our crucifixion, burial, and resurrection and live out the five commands of Romans 6:11-13, we experience crucifixion, burial, and resurrection. And the people around us will see resurrection life in us. We can roll the stone away.
