Living by Grace

Dedicated to providing guidance in daily living through the power of God's grace as experienced in our union with Christ.

Preparation for the Storms of Life

Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.     Luke 6:47-48

Jesus did not say, “If the floods come.” He said “When the flood arose.” A well-known song says, “The God of the good times is the God of the bad times, the God of the mountain is the God of the valley.” We have good times and bad times ahead of us.

Preparation for living in victory in the hard times is very simple according to the prescription of Jesus. All we have to do is know the words of God and live by them.

Would you consider yourself a student of Scripture? Do you think of yourself as an obedient believer?

In a time of meditation, you might think, just as Jesus said, “The floods are coming. In the past they have come and more will come in the future. I know that according to Jesus, I must know the word of God and I must obey.” You also might think, “I read the Bible some and I obey some, but I am really not a student of the Bible and I am not obedient to some of the things I know to do. I want that to change.”

If you need the change and desire it, there is good news. John 16:13 says that the Holy Spirit “… will guide you into all truth” which includes the truths of Scripture. Romans 8:4 says that when we walk in the Spirit, the righteous requirement of the law will be fulfilled in us.

Walk in union with Christ and be filled with the Spirit. He will guide you into the truths of Scripture. He will prompt and guide and enable you to live a life of obedience. Begin now to prepare for your next hard time.
