Living by Grace

Dedicated to providing guidance in daily living through the power of God's grace as experienced in our union with Christ.

God's Gifted Ones

… so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them.  Romans 12:5-6

If one should wonder who God’s gifted ones are, the answer would be, “God has given a ministry gift to every Christian.” He evidently gave the gift at the time of conversion.

Someone has said, “Every Christian is a ten in at least one thing.” He meant that every Christian has a ministry in which he can excel because God has gifted him for his particular ministry.

A church is like the human body. Both have many parts. One person in a church who has a gift for ministry cannot perform all the ministries the church is responsible for. The ear, for example, cannot do all that the human body is called to do.

Some of God’s gifts to members of a church are to be used exclusively in the church. Some are gifts to be used outside the church. Some are to be used both inside and outside the church.

Ephesians 4:11-12 says:

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.

Students of New Testament Greek say that the words “pastors and teachers” should be translated “pastors who are teachers.” Pastors who are teachers are to equip all their members to do the work of the church.

How can the pastors prepare all his members to carry out their responsibilities? He can teach the members of the church how to live by grace and have divine love, guidance, understanding and power.
