Living by Grace

Dedicated to providing guidance in daily living through the power of God's grace as experienced in our union with Christ.

Bring Glory to God

Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.  1 Corinthians 10:31

There are a few passages showing how we can bring glory to God. Romans15:7 says:

Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God.

In a passage about suffering leading to grace Paul writes to the church at Corinth:

For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.  2 Corinthians 4:15

When we live out the “in Christ” life, we find the promises of God to be true (yea) and w confess that they are true. We say “Amen” (we confess that they are true) to the glory of God.

For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.  2 Corinthians 1:20

There is a major hindrance to our bringing glory to God. In Isaiah 42:8 and 48:11, God says that he will not give his glory to another. When we ask God for something for his glory and at the same time want some of the glory ourselves, we hinder God’s answer to that prayer. We ask amiss and our prayers may go unanswered (James 4:2-3).

We can be set free from those hindrances through experiencing our crucifixion to our desire for personal glory.
