Living by Grace

Dedicated to providing guidance in daily living through the power of God's grace as experienced in our union with Christ.

Bringing Glory to God

I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.  John 17:4

Jesus finished God’s plan for His coming to earth by finishing the work the Father sent Him to do. In doing the things the Father sent Him to do, He brought glory to the Father.

In Acts 10:38, Peter says of Jesus, “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

We believers should consider God’s plan for each of us. Ephesus 2:10 says:

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

We were saved to follow the plan of God for our lives just as that was God’s plan for Jesus. Jesus completed the work His Father gave Him. We are to do the same. We are to do the good works God has planned for us.

Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Are some of us confused about God’s plan for our lives? We may think that the only reason God saved us was to keep us out of hell and take us to heaven. All believers need to know that God also saved us to do the good works he has planned for each of us.

Living the life of grace is the way to following God’s plan for our lives. Notice the last of the five steps for living by grace. Romans 6:13c says:

[present] your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

When God is in control of our lives, He will do through us the good works He has planned for us.
